One of the first projects undertaken by the Trust was the establishment of the Diabetic Ward, this was the project that started it all. The creation of this unit brought such a drastic improvement in the quality of care to the patients that it became the trailblazer for patient service quality improvement project for the entire hospital.
The National Institute of Child Health Karachi is the 500-bed public sector pediatric hospital serving over 1 Million patients annually. Some patients come from as far away as Baluchistan, Punjab and KPK. It has the largest infant incubator facility as well as the largest pediatric ER in Pakistan. It is the only hospital providing 24 hours pediatric surgical emergency to over 5 million children within its reach with nearly 1,000 children visiting the OPD daily.
